Aluminum-air batteries have been considered as an attractive candidate for efficient power delivery in the field of electric vehicles and uninterrupted power supply due to the high theoretical energy density (2.8 kWh/kg) with abundant reserves, low cost and light weight of Aluminum. However, the commercial application of Al-air batteries is mainly hindered by the high cost of electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and low utilization of Al anode. This presentation focus on exploring efficient non-precious metal cathode electrocatalysts with availability in large-scale and low cost Al alloy anodes with high utilization rate as well as additives for electrolyte to minimize hydrogen evolution.
